NIF Around the World

For more than 40 years, NIF has made real, positive changes to the lives of everyday Israelis.

Since its inception, the New Israel Fund has used donations from Jewish communities in the US, England, Canada, Australia and elsewhere to provide over US$250 million to more than 800 social justice and human rights organisations.

Board & Staff

NIF's board has members from Israel and the Diaspora and reflects a wide spectrum of voices. It is chaired by David Myers, the Sady and Ludwig Kahn Professor of Jewish History at UCLA, and includes former deputy speaker of the Knesset Naomi Chazan, former legal advisor to the Israeli government Talia Sasson, artist and performer Achinoam Nini (NOA), journalist and academic Yael Sternhell, and Palestinian-Israeli high-tech entrepreneur Reem Younis.

The senior staff is led by chief executive Daniel Sokatch in San Francisco and executive director Mickey Gitzin in Israel.

In addition to the United States, Israel and Australia, NIF has offices in the United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Eminent Israelis including the late Amos Oz z"l, Nobel Prize winners Daniel Kahneman and Aaron Ciechanover, former Deputy Attorney General Judith Karp, and musicians Shaanan Streett, Mira Awad and David Broza form NIF's International Council, which provides support to NIF's activities in Israel and around the world.
