About the event
With the events in Israel and Gaza over the last six weeks, we have organised for four of our Israeli partners to join us via video to discuss the conflict, as well as the human rights lessons we can learn, and how its impact will be felt on Israeli society.
Hagai El-Ad, an Israeli human rights activist, is the executive director of B'Tselem בצלם بتسيلم, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. He recently ended a six-year term as director of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), which included a visit to Australia for NIF in 2012. B’tselem has been one of the primary Israeli voices during the war in Gaza.
Avigail Kormes is NIF's Grants Officer for the Civil and Human Rights pool.
Avi Dabush is SHATIL’s Director of Programming. A resident of southern Israel, Avi’s portfolio includes work on shared society and racism, two issues which have taken on particular importance in light of the kidnapping and murders of three Israeli and one Palestinian teenagers in July, and the violence and tension between Jews and Arabs that came after.
Yuval Yavneh, NIF Associate Director and Director of the Grants and Programs Department. He has been at the NIF for 18 years.
