Tamar Zandberg, a serving Knesset member for the Democratic Union and a former Meretz leader, is a leading voice for human rights and social justice in Israel.
NIF Australia is excited to be hosting her in Melbourne and Sydney. She will address the challenges to Israeli democracy and the role that political parties, grassroots activists, the judicial system and everyday Israelis play in promoting democracy, equality and coexistence.
Zandberg, a former academic, was a leader of 2011’s social justice protests in Israel and a member of Tel Aviv’s city council before entering the Knesset for the Meretz party in 2013. She is a longtime social and feminist activist, passionately advocating for human rights, sustainable urban planning and transport, affordable housing, religious pluralism, women rights and the legalisation of cannabis.
