As a former prime minister and foreign minister, there are few people with a better understanding of Australia’s role in the world and our history with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict than Kevin Rudd.

Join our discussion which will cover everything from Israel’s plans for West Bank annexation, the recent UAE deal, Iran, the rise of China and much more.

The forthright former Labor leader is a self described “lifelong supporter of Israel” who is compelled to speak out against government policies with which he disagrees, including the Netanyahu government’s annexation plans.

Kevin Rudd served as Australia’s 26th prime minister (2007-10, 2013) and as foreign minister (2010-12). Since 2015, he has been president of the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York. He was appointed chair of the board of directors of the International Peace Institute (IPI) in 2018, a think tank dedicated to promoting peace, security and sustainable development.

Recently he joined an IMF external advisory group tackling international issues caused by Covid.

In office, Mr Rudd led Australia’s response to the Global Financial Crisis, reviewed as the most effective policy in the developed world. Australia was the only developed country to avoid recession.

His government also ratified the Kyoto Protocol, delivered the national apology to Indigenous Australians, implemented a mandatory renewable energy target, delivered the national school curriculum, negotiated major reform of the health system, introduced national paid parental leave, and pursued the world’s first plain-packaging regime for tobacco.

He is the author of two memoirs, “Not for the Faint-Hearted” and “The PM Years”.
