Recognition must lead to safety, equality and freedom for all Israelis and Palestinians

Our three governments have announced recognition of the State of Palestine as part of wider diplomatic efforts to end the war, free the hostages and ease Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

Together with the New York Declaration, this recognition seeks an immediate Gaza ceasefire, the release of all hostages, the disarmament of Hamas and its exclusion from governing Gaza, normalization between Israel and Arab states, and collective security guarantees.

These moves push back against those who would allow only an Israel or only a Palestine.

As the only global charity that has supported Israeli communities attacked by Hamas, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, Palestinians facing violence in the West Bank, and humanitarian efforts in Gaza, the New Israel Fund refuses to take sides. We welcome steps that uphold the rights and dignity of both peoples.

Recognition must become a bridge to a shared reality of safety, equality and freedom. We are proud to work with determined partners in both societies who are blocking violence and building a more peaceful future.
