New Israel Fund Australia Welcomes Implementation of Trump’s Peace Plan
15/10/2025 – Melbourne

The New Israel Fund welcomes the implementation of President Trump’s peace plan. It is an immense relief to see the return of all living hostages and an end to the bombardment of Gaza.

Among the 20 hostages reunited with their loved ones is Matan Zangauker — the son of Einav Zangauker, who stood every day demanding his release and was awarded NIF’s Truth to Power prize last year. Today, the “Mother Lioness” can finally hold her son again.

In Gaza, after months of devastation and displacement, a fragile calm has taken hold. Families are sleeping without the sound of drones and bombs overhead. For the first time in far too long, food, clean water, and medical aid are reaching communities in desperate need.

We acknowledge that the implementation of President Trump’s plan has — at least for now — brought an end to active violence and opened a narrow path away from war. This outcome was not inevitable. It was made possible by tireless organising, courageous protest, and moral leadership — from Israelis, Palestinians, and allies across the world — who refused to give up on a better future.

Though fragile and far from complete, this moment is the result of relentless pressure — from activists, civil society leaders, and hundreds of thousands who would not accept endless war as the only option.

The New Israel Fund will continue to support those organisations working for justice, equality, and human rights for all people in the region. Because true peace can only come when every person — Israeli and Palestinian alike — lives in safety, with dignity, and under the protection of the law.

We will not stop at hope. We will continue the work — together — to build a future grounded in justice and peace.

About Us

New Israel Fund (NIF) Australia

NIF Australia was formed in 2011 when Naomi Chazan, then-president of NIF Israel and the former deputy speaker of the Knesset, visited Australia. In the more than ten years since its formation, NIF Australia has raised over $5 million, distributing grants to important civil society organisations in Israel, and facilitating new conversations about Israel inside the Australian Jewish community. Our community promotes freedom, equality and social justice by funding Israeli nonprofits and fostering new discussions in the Australian Jewish community.
