The New Israel Fund ("NIF") Australia invites you to a presentation by Ellyse Borghi on Sunday 30 October 2011. Ellyse has just returned from a year studying law at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. There she focused primarily on family law and the interaction between religion and state in this sphere.

While in Israel, she also interned at a not-for-profit law legal services organisation funded by NIF, the Centre for Women's Justice which provides Litigation and advocacy services advancing the status of Jewish women whose rights have been infringed as a result of the legal system’s dependence on religious law. This organisation is attempting to change the status quo for Jewish women in Israel by pursuing legal outcomes which raise women's rights and status in the rabbinical courts around the country.

The presentation will be followed by a discussion.
