A new Israel experience - New Israel Fund Australia

A new Israel experience

As you know, NIF supports and enables social change organisations in Israel which are building a society that values religious pluralism, social justice, human rights and democracy.

So far in Australia, we have successfully brought that vision to the Jewish community through engaging and dynamic speakers - we’ve coordinated events with former Deputy Knesset Speaker Naomi Chazan, former editor of Haaretz David Landau, human rights activists Hagai El-Ad and Mickey Gitzin, and recently with acclaimed Palestinian advocate Hassan Jabareen.

However, we also think it’s crucial that in order create a more positive and holistic conversation about Israel in our community, that we need to go to Israel and experience what life is like for every day for those Israelis living without equal access to justice, without adequate health, education or welfare services, or under occupation.

With that in mind, we’re soon going to be launching an Israel experience trip for our NIForum group (supporters of NIF in their 20s and 30s). As we plan our program, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the kind of program you could see yourself attending.

We’d really appreciate if you took five minutes to fill out this quick survey - it would help us a lot as we embark on this exciting new project. To give you a bit of incentive, we’re also going to randomly give two lucky people $50 iTunes vouchers.

So far we’ve come up with ideas for a few different models - a ten month fellowship; three month internships; and a shorter, 7-10 day study tour.

If you’re also able to pass on the link to other people who you think might be interested that would be fantastic. We’re looking for people who share our vision of an Israel that is inclusive, pluralist and tolerant.

Here’s the link to the survey - www.nif.org.au/ip_survey. It would be great if you could give us five minutes of your time and send us your thoughts. Remember, you can win yourself a $50 iTunes voucher!

Thanks for your help, and if you have any questions or there is something you would like to discuss, feel free to get in touch.

P.S. In the meantime, if you’re going to be in Israel soon, be in touch and we can help arrange for you to see some of the great work NIF is doing on the ground in Israel.
