We're excited to be running our first study tour for Australians to visit the New Israel Fund and its grantees in Israel this January.
The New Israel Fund is Israel's premier funder of progressive civil society. For almost 40 years, NIF has been at the forefront of major advancements for equality and justice in Israel. In that time, NIF has distributed over US$300 million to more than 900 grantees working across the social, religious and ethnic spectrum.
Today, NIF's work is focussed on six major areas: human rights and democratic infrastructure, Palestinian-Israeli society, shared society and combating racism, religious pluralism and tolerance, social and economic justice, and a series of new initiatives which are creating groundbreaking change. NIF also runs Shatil, a major capacity building organisation which provides consulting, assistance and support to countless organisations, as well as works to effect change in society in its own right, through advocacy and lobbying.
NIF Australia was formed in 2011 with twin aims: to provide support for NIF's work in Israel build a more just and pluralist society; and to create a space for Australian Jews to express themselves on the human rights and social justice issues they care about.
